IUPAP Young Scientist Prizes

IUPAP Young Scientist Prizes in Semiconductor Physics were awarded to Dr. Samuel D. Stranks from Cambridge University (UK) and Dr. Kimberly A. Dick Thelander from Lund University (Sweden) at ICPS2016 on Friday, August 5th, 2016.

Dr. Samuel D. Stranks was awarded to the prize “for his pioneering discoveries in the field of perovskite solar cells and optoelectronics through spectroscopy”.

Dr. Kimberly A. Dick Thelander was awarded to the prize “for her work to control and understand growth of nanowires, including three-dimensional structures, superlattices, crystal phase engineering and bandgap design”.

Following the award announcements by Prof. Michael Thewalt, Chair of the Semiconductor Physics Commission of IUPAP, Dr. Samuel D. Stranks presented a prize winner lecture on “Metal-halide perovskites for photovoltaic and light-emitting devices” and Dr. Kimberly A. Dick Thelander presented a prize winner lecture on “Design of advanced one-dimensional semiconductor nanowire materials” in a dedicated plenary session of ICPS2016 on Friday, August 5th, 2016.
